About us

#PitBLK is an answer to a call from within the Black Writing Community for a Pitch Event that centers Black creators. We aim to spark the recognition and celebration of untapped talent within an industry that has historically marginalized Black creativity and objectified Black culture. Our annual pitch party - #PitBLK - is an initial step toward filling a void of attention, access, and opportunity for Black creators within the traditional publishing industry. #PitBLK is also dedicated to rolling out a series of community building activities that will connect writers and industry professionals in the lead up to each annual Pitch Party. We hope these combined efforts will increase support and representation of Black authors and pay respect to our creativity in all its forms.
